April message

The continuing spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), social distancing measures, and their effect on the economy has residents understandably concerned about the health, safety and financial security of themselves and their loved ones.

For up-to-date information during this crisis, I encourage you to consult the government links shared on my website, which is updated frequently: https://patkellymp.ca/covid-19-information/.

The physical and mental health of my constituents, the impacts to businesses in this riding, and the devastation of the overall economy are my primary concerns. Please do what you can to keep yourselves safe during the COVID-19 pandemic by following the recommendations of the city, the province, and the federal government.

If and when it is safe and possible, please support small businesses that are struggling to stay afloat during this challenging time. Many have fixed costs, such as lease and other bill payments, which they need to cover despite lost revenue.

Scam Alert: The Government is NOT sending text messages regarding the new Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB). If you have received a text message regarding the benefit, do NOT click the link.

As you may be preparing your income tax return, please note the deadline for individuals to file taxes has been extended from April 30 to June 1.

If you have questions or concerns, please know that my staff and I continue to provide assistance to constituents. Although we have temporarily suspended in-person meetings, we are available by telephone, 403-282-7980, and email, Pat.Kelly@parl.gc.ca. We will do our very best to assist you and to direct you to the appropriate resource.

This is a stressful time for most people. Please seek help if you need it and check in with family, friends and neighbours. Be calm, be kind, be patient, and follow the advice of the various levels of government so that we can all get through this together.
