Dear Friends,
Parliament rose for the summer on June 18th, and I am happy to be back home in Calgary to spend time in the community.
On July 1st, we celebrated Canada Day and the birth of our country. It was great to share this important day with neighbours and friends and reflect on the proud history of our great country.
Stampede is always a great opportunity for me to meet and spend time with people in our communities. The great thing about the Stampede is that it’s not only about the parade and the celebration of Western culture and heritage that takes place on the grounds. Across the city, community associations, local businesses, churches, and volunteer groups bring people together, by feeding their neighbours at countless breakfasts and barbecues, and celebrating our city.
Over the course of the Stampede, I joined many of you at local events that embodied Calgary’s spirit. I attended local community events across the riding that I represent including in: Ranchlands, Sage Hill, Scenic Acres, Tuscany, Royal Oak, Citadel, and Hawkwood; and many others throughout the city. These neighbourhood gatherings are all driven by dedicated volunteers and generous local sponsors who make our city such a special place to call home.
There are plenty more summer events in our communities to come, and I hope to have the opportunity to meet many of you this summer before the House of Commons resumes in September.
