Dear friends,

Over the past several weeks, I have spoken in the House of Commons on several issues that affect people in our community and Canadians across country.

It is important that the government be held to account when it fails to keep promises, or when its decisions harm Canadians. When I’m in Ottawa, I use every tool I have available to ensure accountability from this government to Canadians, including speeches in debate, questions in Question Period, and Statements in the House of Commons.

In the House of Commons:

Mr. Greg Fergus has demonstrated his unwillingness to remain non-partisan as the Speaker of the House of Commons. He has routinely used his power to further the interests of the Liberal Party:

• He addressed the Ontario Liberal Party leadership convention in full Speaker garb and has spoken at a cocktail fundraising dinner for a Quebec Provincial Liberal.

• Advertising material for a summer event with Speaker Fergus used inflammatory partisan attacks about the Leader of the Opposition and the Conservative Party.

• He used his position to expel the Leader of the Opposition from the Chamber while allowing the Prime Minister to simply rephrase his similar use of unparliamentary language.

I spoke on the motion to remove Speaker Fergus for his improper partisan activity. Despite the litany of known acts of partisanship over the past 8 months, the motion was narrowly defeated later that evening.

My Speech on the Motion to Remove Speaker Fergus:

Bill C-49 will kill offshore energy projects (including renewable energy), just like C-69 killed mines and pipelines

My Speech on Bill C-49:

Conservatives call on the government to give Canadians a summer break by axing the carbon tax, the federal fuel tax, and GST on gasoline and diesel from now until Labour Day, so families can afford a simple summer vacation. My speech

Axe the Tax so Families Can Afford a Summer Vacation:

A damning report from the Auditor General reveals the depths of corruption at Sustainable Development Technology Canada, which became a “Green Slush Fund” when Liberal cronies began self enriching chronic insider dealings with impunity. The Liberals only acted after being exposed by whistleblowers. Even some NDP MPs seem to be upset by this level of corruption. I participated in debate on the Conservative motion to force the production of documents for referral to the RCMP. A few days ago, our motion passed. Its up to the Prime Minister and his Liberal government to comply.

Liberals Must Release "Green Slush Fund" Documents for RCMP:

Conservative Motion to release "Green Slush Fund" documents to RCMP passed!:

The Liberal government’s war against small business continues with a new productivity and job destroying tax. Because of the changes to Capital Gains taxes, businesses, job, doctors, and food production will leave Canada. I voted against it this week.

To address these Liberal investment-killing policies, within 60 days becoming Prime Minister, Pierre Poilievre will name a Tax Reform Task Force of entrepreneurs, inventors, farmers and workers (but no lobbyists) to design a Bring it Home Tax Cut that will:

o Allow workers to bring home more of each dollar they earn to reward work.

o Bring home production and paycheques, by making Canada the best place to invest, hire and make things.

o Bring home fairness by reducing the share of taxes paid by the poor and middle class while cutting tax-funded corporate welfare and cracking down on overseas tax havens.

o Cutting the paperwork and bureaucracy in the tax system by at least 20%.

Stop Trudeau's Job Killing Tax Hike:

At the Defence Committee:

I am a member of the Standing Committee on National Defence, and regularly question Canada’s Senior Military Officers, bureaucrats, industry experts, academics, and the Minister of Defence.

This government is long on promises, short of delivery. I questioned Defence Minister Blair about delivery dates discrepancies for additional artillery shell production and ground-based air defences systems in Latvia.

Minister Bill Blair and this Liberal government have a credibility problem:
