Dear friends,

I hope you had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

It was a busy year at the House of Commons. This year was highlighted by non-confidence votes, corruption scandals and fighting against the high cost of living and inflationary deficits (2023 Year End Message).

I rose 142 times to speak in the House of Commons on behalf of Calgarians in 2023, including a number of times during the final week before the Christmas Break:

Chemical Weapons Speech:

Liberal government refuses to answer about high interest rates:

Calling on the Liberals to axe the carbon tax:

Requesting a Recorded Confidence Vote:

Prime Minister Denies Carbon Tax Relief for Farmers:

Calling out Calgary Liberal MP George Chahal for failing to get Carbon Tax Carve Out:

Debating Bill C-56 (Tax Relief on Rental Construction and Changing the Competition Act):

Questioning Corporate Subsidies for Foreign Replacement Workers at Stallantis Plant:

Bill C-58 (Labour Code Changes) Speech:

Questions and Comments with MP Mark Strahl on Bill C-58:

I am a member of the Standing Committee on National Defence. Committee investigations have found that this government has failed to ramp up defence production for current and future needs, particularly for basic supplies like artillery shells which are crucial for both Canada’s own defence needs and our ability to support Ukraine.

Defence Committee on Producing Artillery Shells:

  Defence Committee with Ukrainian Ambassador:

Canada’s top General and Admiral have recently raised the alarm over Canada’s operational readiness. I asked Minister Bill Blair about how Defence cuts he announced will affect readiness and about artillery shell production.

Defence Committee Questioning Minister Blair about Cuts:

Defence Committee Questioning Minister Blair:

There is a shortage of military housing which affects morale and retention of Canadian Armed Forces members. Defence officials know that thousands of new homes are needed but under this Liberal government, only about 20 houses per year are being built, while existing housing stock deteriorates. With 4,000 on the waiting list for base housing, many CAF members would rather leave the military than be transferred to community without affordable housing.

Back in Calgary, I was able to celebrate the winter season by attending community events. Thank you to all the hardworking volunteers who make our neighbourhoods great places to live and raise families.

I will host an Open House at my Constituency Office this month and I hope to see you there.

It remains my honour to represent you at the House of Commons as your Member of Parliament.
